ADU’s By-Right: The Final Regulations
Starting February 2nd, 2025, accessory dwelling units (ADUs) are allowed by-right in all single-family residential zoning districts statewide, provided they adhere to the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC) and local regulations. This enables property owners to build ADUs without needing special approval from local zoning boards, simplifying the development process and easing the burden on property owners.
