The Community Action Committee is supporting the 15th Annual Abby’s House Hybrid 5k Run/Walk being held on Saturday, October 19, 2024.

We are looking for members to volunteer to help with registration, passing out water bottles, and cheering on participants. If you are interested, please register here.

Abby's House RACE DAY OPPORTUNITIES:

WHERE: West Boylston Middle/High School located at 125 Crescent Street, West Boylston, MA
*Parking will be available in the school parking lot 

ARRIVAL: We ask all volunteers to arrive by 7:30 am so we can make sure we have the race course signs, cheerers and water station volunteers ready to go shortly after that. (The race starts at 9:00 am.)  (Abby’s House Staff will be arriving by 7:00 am so if you are eager to help set up or said you could help with that, feel free to come earlier!)

VOLUNTEER CHECK-IN: Volunteer table – By 7:00 am there will be a small volunteer tent (gazebo style) set up in front of the high school. Please check in and I’ll verify your post and tell you how to get there (on the race course or assisting with registration or raffle or water tables, complete list below).  For those who will be on the racecourse, we have two large SUVs that will transport you and some volunteers might use their own transportation.

WHAT DO I WEAR? – Dress comfortably and wear layers as it might be chilly by that time in October. For those of you representing your school’s sports team, or company please wear your gear, so you represent your community!  I will have brightly colored safety vests for everyone who will be on the course and volunteer name tags for anyone selling raffle tickets or at a spot on the finish line or food table, etc. 

VOLUNTEER RACE- DAY ROLES INCLUDE:

• SET UP  
• RAFFLE TICKET SALES
• HAT & TSHIRT SALES
• FOOD PANTRY COLLECTION/RAFFLE
• DAY OF REGISTRATION “RUNNERS” (bringing any last-minute registrations to the finish line)
• STARTING LINE HELPER 
• RACE COURSE DIRECTION GIVERS AND CHEERERS: we have at least 4 spots on the course where we need signs and cheerers as well as on the FINISH LINE 
• 3 WATER TABLES: ½ way mark, finish line, and somewhere in between the two  
• FOOD & SNACK TABLE
